2024-2025 Description of Theme | Emotions
“For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.” (Galatians 5:17)
In the profound struggle between spirit and flesh, our hearts become the battleground where emotions vie for dominance. While emotions inspired by the Spirit guide us toward righteousness, those distorted by the flesh pose deceptive challenges. Just as Jesus Himself grappled with difficult emotions, we see that emotions are not inherently evil but a byproduct of being made in God’s likeness. Yet, the flesh, ruled by sin, aims to distort and corrupt the image we were likened to; when our hearts are left unchecked, troubles lies in wait.
In a culture that urges people to trust their own hearts, the battle to discern between spirit and flesh has never been more vital. Join us as we gain insight into this divine struggle as we learn to navigate and redeem our emotions in alignment with God’s will for a life of spiritual significance.
2023-2024 Description of Theme | Crossroads
“It is no secret that decisions hold exponential weight in our lives. They not only determine how people see us and how we see them, but they also have the power to shape our fundamental understanding of God and self. Whether they lead to moments of love or seasons of sorrow, lessons of humility or bouts of pride, whether they bring the greatest blessings or the hardest trials, every decision we make sends us on a journey. At one point or another, all of us will face crossroads – moments where a decision must be made that will inevitably shape the next steps on our path. So, the question is, what kind of path do you want to walk? Where are you headed?”
